Domo is a featured item at Target Stores this Halloween Season

Japanese animation, usually referred to as anime, is a subest of animated shows which usually feature child-heroes who make use of extraordinary powers to overcome the evils of a world gone wildly awry.  This year, Domo, a popular Japanese anime series, is making waves in American markets.

Anime has become an extremely popular subject this year, and seems to have extended its presence into the mainstream.  Target stores nationwide are offering up Domo as this year’s featured Halloween mascot, including a special short feature produced exclusively for Target distribution.

As with most popular anime, Domo-kun episodes first aired on japanese television, before migrating the rest of world.  The interesting thing this time around, however, is the mainstream exposure being given to anime by a national department store.  With the leverage of Target behind its growth, Domo is certain to gain even more popularity as his scary adventures entertain the little ghosts and goblins.

Suikoden fans will love this RPG

Konami was quick to release some details about their DS-based Suikoden, and even though it isn’t labeled with a number, it is still obviously a sequel in the popular series.  The storyline, which is very in-depth, concerns 108 warriors, the mysteries of destiny and astrology, and is based in a colorful medieval world.  The main character, which the player is able to choose the name for, has to collect the Stars of Destiny, accompanied by a variety of friends and accomplices, and a race of porpoises who live on land.

Unfortunately, this game scales combat scenes to only four players, as was done in the most recent release before this in the series, but magic stockpiles are no longer managed by number of uses. Instead, it uses a more traditional RPG method of magic points.

Naruto Shippuden movie 2 is a successful hit at the box office this weekend. Narutos new movie (the 5th in the series) took number 3 at the Japanese box office this weekend beating out strong contenders such as Kung-Fu Panda and Indiana Jones. Despite being beat out by other anime movies in theaters now (Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea #1 and Pikachu The Movie 2008 #2) this should give the creators of Naruto a good indication that putting out more Naruto Shippuden movies in the future will bring in great ratings and huge takes at the box office.
