Iphones At Walmart

Wal-Mart will soon start selling the 8Gb iPhone for $197. The 16Gb version will be for $297. The phones will require a new two-year service agreement or a qualified upgrade.

The move is seen by many as a chance for Apple to reach millions of Wal-Mart shoppers who may not be as familiar with the Iphone.

Wal-Mart typically appeals to shoppers who don’t generally buy Apple’s products like Macintosh computers, iPods and iPhones, which are more expensive that other music players and computers on the market. But in times of a recession everyone is seems to be looking for a good deal.

Speculations that Apple would offer a 4-gigabyte model of the iPhone for $99 at Wal-Mart stores had been prevalent on numerous websites. But the phones being sold at Wal-Mart are $2 below the prices offered at other locations.

AT&T, currently sells the Iphone for $199 for the 8 Gb version, and $299 for the 16Gb version.

A small independent Australian study has laid to rest a common misconception, that using abbreviations and simplifications while texting result’s in ruining our spelling. Although according to the study, they do take longer to read and understand than conventional messages written English.

University of Tasmania lecturer Nenagh Kemp asked students to first compose and then read out aloud text messages in “textese.” While the students were faster at composing the messages it took most almost twice as long to read and understand than those which were written in conventional English. It is because as adults we are used to reading full words and sentences and therefore takes longer for us to decipher “textese.” She explains.

No effects were shown on the literary abilities of the students contrary to popular beliefs. Not condemning the use “textese” While using mobile phones it is not advisable to use it anywhere else like emails and office correspondence.

The new President of the United States has to reduce his telecommunications

Now that the tech savvy Barack Obama is about to take his seat at the Oval Office, the public might not see him with his BlackBerry smartphone any more, making the first e-President to take a step back on some of his tech-related hobbies.

While security is a very obvious primary reason for regulating the communication mediums of the newly elected President, Barack Obama is also subject to, by law, the Presidential Records Act, which mandates the recording of his correspondence to be part of official records and subject to reviews by the public.

Alongside all that, Obama will also have to deal with regulated email and chat for the purpose of security. He probably won’t be allowed to have a computer, either. All his correspondence have to be laid down and delivered to a fro him via hard copy. As for his take on the matter, it is clear that Obama will surely dread having to give up his techie lifestyle.

Play the drums while walking around!

Play the drums while walking around!

After placing almost everything that was thought to be new and cool such as the Wi-Fi and Soundtrack player on threads, Think Geek introduces the new Electric Drum kit Shirt – a new idea that lets people who wear this shirt make various, real life drum noises when the chest is tapped.

As of now the shirt can provide seven different drum sounds, which is probably more than enough to start you off jamming with other friends wherever you go, even when walking. The sounds can be adjusted for all your amplifying needs. All these features only need AAA batteries to run.

The shirt is worth $30 on the market, not including the batteries. As far as practicality is involved, Think Geek is more focused on the fact that yet again they have come up with something new. These novel items make great gift ideas as well as they are fun for personal use.

California: Don’t Text and Drive

California law now prohibits texting while driving

California law now prohibits texting while driving

As times change, California lawmakers have moved to ban typing text messages while driving, imposing sanctions for any motorist violators.

Back then when calling was the trend for mobile phone users in the US, a law was passed banning motorists caught talking on their mobile phones without a hands-free device (known as the hands-free law) while they are driving for the very obvious driving risks.

But now that texting has become a way for motorists to chat on the phone while driving without technically violating the law (though still subject to the same or even higher risk of accident that the law tries to prevent), lawmakers had to think fast and start fining these users $20 on their first offense, then going up as the violations continue.

As to whether the fines are too low for violators to take notice, at least lawmakers are continuing to protect drivers and pedestrians in general from an act which is as dangerous as drunk driving.

There has been a lot of speculation and concentration on the iPhone, but have you taken a look at the iPod lately?  The iPod nano is super thin, and is available in 8 and 16 GB models, and 9 vibrant colors.  It is available by visiting the Apple Store, and prices start at $149.  It allows both normal and widescreeen projects, by rotating the alignment of the unit, and will shuffle to a different song by simply shaking the Nano.  With a capacity of 2000 songs on the 8GB model, I foresee a whole lot of shakin’ going on!

With a VGA jack to fit your computer, and a video in jack to support input from other devices, the MPro110, from 3M is an amazing projector.  While the beta version, pictured here, doesn’t have the best resolution possible, it is most assuredly a step in the right direction.  It can project images, graphs, and even video onto any light-colored surface.  This version loses a lot in the translation of moving images, but for video geeks the world over, the guy sitting in front of you just became your living theater screen.  you’ll have to supply your own earpiece or amplifying system, but who cares?  Let’s just watch the movie already!
