3D Baseball Cards on Webcam
3D Baseball Cards on Webcam
Author JoeDigital

Well it looks like the baseball card industry is starting to come up with something new to market itself with. But considering its stagnant status for the past 50 years, it is indeed about time something new has come up if they even want to survive.
The new card (pun intended) that this industry is dealing involves Topps, who takes baseball cards and applies augmented reality technology on them, which allows users to see a 3D image of the baseball player featured in the card by simply presenting the card before any webcam. The image would then be projected on your computer screen. You can turn the card around for different angles of the player – it’s almost like you’re looking at a miniature figure of the athlete.
This gimmick by Topps could probably be the big break that the baseball card industry is waiting for. With the craze of other augmented reality toys appealing to the young people going on recently, it won’t be far that these 3D baseball cards will be a hit as well.
